In
addition to acting on stage, dancing in our studio, and vocal training
with our professional accompanist, students in our Mega Stars High
School Theater Camp will have the time of their lives working with our
incredible staff of professionally trained teaching artists and camp
counselors. Loads of fantastic activities are planned for students,
including writing and performing in their own plays, training to
choreograph their own stage combat fights, and lots of other innovative
activities only a theater camp can deliver.
In a typical Mega Stars day, students will Sing, Dance, and Perform their way through theater activities meant to hone their individual interest in the performing arts. Depending on their interest, each week students will perform in plays, learn songs from popular musicals, and practice dance choreography. Popular rehearsal and performance material will be chosen from plays like Camelot, Wicked, Oliver, Oklahoma, Romeo and Juliet, High School Musical, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Seussical, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, and many, many more. In addition to the every-day fun activities, students in Mega Stars have a few special events to look forward to in both sessions, including a field trip to NYC to see a show, a chance to meet special guest artists; and a fantastic cast party to celebrate their amazing performance . All of the work and fun-filled rehearsal leads up to the final week, when students finish rehearsals for their final performance. How cool will it be when they perform for parents, friends, and the public in a professional theater in NYC? Rehearsals and performances will include tech and lighting, with a special appearance by a NYC theater agency, who will give our awesome students advice on how to pursue a professional career in the theater.
