In
addition to acting on stage, dancing in our studio, and vocal training
with our professional accompanist, students in our Shooting Stars camp
will have the time of their lives working with our incredible staff of
professionally trained teaching artists and camp counselors. Loads of
fantastic activities are planned for students, including writing and
performing in their own plays, training for stage
combat, and lots of other innovative activities only a theater
camp can deliver.
In a typical Shooting Stars day, students will Sing, Dance, and Perform their way through theater games and activities meant to foster their interest in the performing arts. Each week, students will perform in plays and learn songs from popular musicals, including dance, if the student is so inclined. Popular rehearsal and performance material will be chosen from plays like Camelot; Wicked; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Oliver; High School Musical 2; Oklahoma; Romeo and Juliet; A Midsummer Night's Dream; Pirates; Seussical; The Sound of Music; Beauty and the Beast; and many, many more. In addition to the every-day fun activities, students in Shooting Stars have a few special events to look forward to in both sessions, including a field trip to NYC to see the Mega Stars performance (Encore's high school program); a one-day field trip to a show, TBD and go backstage to meet some of the actors; special guest artists; and a fantastic cast party to celebrate their amazing performance. All of the work and fun-filled rehearsal leads up to the final week, when students finish rehearsals for their final performance, scheduled for the last day of camp. Every student will play a significant role in the final performance, TBA, which will be performed for parents, friends, and the public on the main stage at SGS!
